A fine game, sir!

It was a very creative game and unusual game of Snake. Normally, Snake's played by eating stuff and not running into the walls or yourself. Here, you've revamped it by making it so that you have to eat the particles as soon as they appear to earn points. The combo meter was an added bonus.

In short, fun to play, and was a great tribute. HAPPY jmtb02 DAY TO YOU, TOO! :D

Glad you enjoyed it, happy jmtb02 day :D!

Fun for the holidays!

This game was really enjoyable to play. The graphics were great, and the varied gameplay gave incentive to keep playing. It's one of the few holiday games out there that give excellent replay value (due to the trophies) while making things fresh and fun. I've been dying to hear some classical music in Flash games for a while now, and this does its job well in terms of loosely syncing everything with the beats of the song.

However, I really wish the game didn't lag so much on my computer. Most games I play aren't nearly as laggy (then again, most games don't feature a nutcracker going after a Mouse King). It's nearly impossible to get through level 4 with the lag, though, as it's too hard to jump over the brick walls without crashing into a whole bunch and draining your life quickly.

That being said, "The Nutcracker" was a blast to play. Well done, both of you!

Press "q" twice in game to get to low quality, it helps a lot

Quite nice!

This tut is well explained and looks rather nice. You chose a nice color scheme, and it was very concise and clear about what you were supposed to draw. I especially liked the little dialogue boxes that appeared when you moused over certain buttons; that was a good touch. Thank goodness there was a multiple song selection and a mute button as well, as I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't want to listen to songs from Japanese anime.

Any people who want to draw anime will get a huge kick out of this.

Moosh responds:

Haha I actually got alittle annoyed from the first anime song after a while :P But thanks alot for pointing out the things that especially appealed to you :)

I get a huge kick out of nice reviewers like you lol

Very stylish; gameplay falters a little bit...

Skytunes is a pretty good game overall. The game was very stylish and sleek, and everything felt polished. I myself like Elite Beat Agents, so the gameplay was nice. The music was true to the description; it was rather relaxing compared to the heavy metal and trance in other Rock Out games.

What I didn't like about the game is that it is very hard to keep up with the beats. The beats, especially in later levels, occur almost randomly across the screen, and, though it really isn't random, they are too far apart to click in time. Even though the game doesn't subtract points from your score for missing beats, I swear I could have gotten a lot more if I knew what to click first. Having numbered beats that would indicate which to go to next would really help a lot.

Another small nitpick was the squirrelly beat holds, as they didn't feel as well put-together as the normal beats (it doesn't recognize that you put your cursor off of the circle if you hold your mouse and drag). But, it's still a nice, well-put-together game. Eight out of ten for me.

Claytron responds:

i completely agree with, another good feature of EBA, was that you had simple reflxes made easier for you by just touching the the screen!!

And to the dragging glitch, it will recognize if you remove the mouse frmo the coirle the downfall was taht you could just reclick it if you did that ..

Well, thanks for the good score and I am glad you enjoyed it!

Guess you never found an artist, huh? :D

Yeah, I saw that thread. You could have expanded so much upon this game, yet you didn't. Why? It was an interesting concept, but because you didn't add to it, the gameplay itself isn't that fun. There's only one 'enemy' (the cow that you must kill to turn into food), and the game isn't visually appealing (the main character's a box with a line for a turret). Even though you say you lack in drawing skill, if you spend time on drawing, it will end up looking pretty good. I give a couple of extra points in the 'Sound' category for HouseMasta music, but that doesn't come close to giving this game a better score.

KyleDaFox responds:

I was joking when I made this, it was all for laughs. It wasn't even supposed to be on Newgrounds but I thought it'd be funny.

Cool concept; still too hard, I'm afraid.

As a concept, it's pretty cool. Who doesn't like a typing game where you press keys to blow up an alien spaceship? The only problem is, the new version is STILL too hard. I'm a pretty good typist, and even I found it too difficult. You should try adding less beats in the beginning so that people can sort of keep up. You should also make the keys on the bottom more visible, so that players can see what key they should press next. I didn't particularly care for the music -- even though it was fitting for the alien theme, I didn't like the bleepy-bloopy synthesized notes. But, that's probably just me. :D

However, I think that most people will agree with me with the fact that you still need to tone down the difficulty a little. Other notes would be that the warning, though it is present (a good thing), is a tad long. Shorten it, and make the game less hard, and I (and many others) will enjoy it more.

Xbits responds:

Thats some good ideias.
Thx

Fun to play; more customization needed, though.

Though this game does resemble Thing Thing, the actual concept is quite remarkable and different. Because of the way your character flies away when hit with a bullet or grenade blast, it kind of reminds me of Super Smash Bros. Odd, eh?

I like how there are many modes of play. An interesting one is the Microphone Mode, where guns are triggered by blowing into a mic. You should really make a blowdart sort of game with this. It was generally fun to play, albeit with humorous AI troubles (sometimes, if you toss a grenade at your enemy, he will stand there and the grenade blows up in his face). :D

Some suggestions would be to add custom characters into the game. I wanted to rename 'Default' into something else, but I couldn't. I have no idea whether this was intentional or unexpected. Sure, customizing your character's skin and blood color was cool, but it could have been better. But, overall, this was fun to play, and it certainly has a chance to be on the front page.

fungus-shark408 responds:

Sounds like you were hitting "Edit Character" instead of "New Character". Then you can't change the name.

A solid effort.

Political Duel is a really good game. The only flaw that people might take against your Flash is it's extremely similar to the game World Domination Battle, but with way less characters and not as good gameplay. That being said, I still think that this game certainly should stay in the portal. The basic gameplay has no flaws or glitches that I could see. The cut-out faces of the characters sometimes didn't match well, as since they were different photos, the lighting and sizes of the faces were different. I probably rated this game a higher score for 'Style', except that it is much like a toned-down version of WDB, as mentioned before. I wish that the characters would have different attacks (besides their unique forward and back special moves). Also, it would boost your score more if the characters had different attributes (ie. Saddam Hussein might be stronger than the average character, but also slower, etc.). But, overall, a well-designed game.

freeworldgroup responds:

thanks, but the game was made well before world domination battle and was on the fwg for a couple of months.

Ghost Game Chase 2 is not frightening to play.

Lame pun aside, this game is not that bad. I like how ghosts randomly spawn from the sides, and the music is somewhat fitting (Super Mario World, right?). The graphics could be better though, and sometimes I hit a ghost and lose a life when I could've sworn I wasn't touching it at all.

kl-harry responds:

Yeah, I'm working on that glitch: it seems there might be 'invisible' ghosts. keep playing!

Mario Kart, for the win.
