Solid as cardboard, but content gets it a bit wet.

Alright, first let me say that using purely cardboard textures in a Flash collab was pure genius. It's seriously a great idea, mainly because I haven't really seen it before.

Furthermore, the preloader game was also executed well (props to Coolio-Niato for making that, as well as Nicholas-Deary for the art). As well, the music suited the piece and was of high quality.

Now, what is disappointing for me is that, other than a few strokes in ingenuity in this collab (the opening sequence, the subway part, the hot air balloon), the content as a whole seems a bit... dull. I realize that the theme of the collab was to capture urban living in cardboard form, but it would be nice if there were some more interesting pieces. You guys are certainly a talented bunch, so I was hoping to see all of the parts stand out in a good way. Granted, the whole "rain on cardboard" thing that someone did was a unique touch.

Overall, the premise was really good. I just wish that there were some more memorable parts to it. But, other than some difficulties in execution, it gets a solid 9 out of 10 for the sheer amount of effort you guys have put into it. Great stuff!

Oh, yeah, and I noticed ads for "Corrugated Cola" throughout the entire thing. Intentional? ;)

MorrowDays responds:

ya the corrugated cola was intentional, I think it was Ziwon who thought that up :)

the content was pretty quiet, but I wouldn't say dull, but thats fine. I left a lengthier response in the thread, so go read that if you've got a sec.

and ya the preloader game was awesome, they did a great job.

It wasn't particularly funny, but was decent.

I don't mind the occasional Awesome parody by people other than Egoraptor, but I didn't find this particularly amusing. Of course, I'm taking into account that I've never actually played Assassin's Creed, so I'm not going to take points off that; that would be cruel. ;)

Now, what I think it lacks is some punch, especially from the voice acting. Egoraptor's a talented voice actor who can make voices higher-pitched and frenetic under loads of panic, making things much, much funnier. A great example of this would be Awesome Dug from "Awesome Compilation Vol. 5". Now, your voice acting wasn't bad, but it just didn't make the movie downright hilarious. I suggest either hiring a voice actor to do the parts, but if you want to be in true-Egoraptor style, just work on your voice acting and do the voices yourself. I guarantee it will be better!

Overall, decent, and mildly entertaining to watch for the 20 seconds or so it lasts, but it would be much better and funnier if the voice acting was better. Still good, though!

AlmightyHans responds:

sure convinced loads of people it was egoraptor. the 30 versions there are on youtube hae the people stealing it think it's a new egoraptor movie. But i understand your point, one reason I didn't give it the punch it needed when voice acting was that it was 3 in the morning when i made this and didn't want to scream to much since i live in an appartment complex. angry neighbors, you know. I tend to get really loud when doing voices. having this limit kind of gave me a lack of emtion in the voice work. If i knew this sumission was going to do half as well as it did I would have found some time durring the day and do a better job.

Hahaha, classic.

Wow, is THAT what you sound like? Neat. :P What pulled this off was the song. Your, uh, 'unique' singing, to say the least, worked perfectly with the corniness of it all. Big props to Stamper for the piano accompaniment. I lol'd at the subtle references in there (like how Luis never uses a Wacom tablet).

Anyway, happy Luis Day to you, Tom. :)

Hurrah for marshmellows!

Glad this collab came out (finally, after 3 or so months of procrastination ;P). Great to see, guys. Cheers! :D

WAR-HEART responds:

lolol

The epitome of awesome.

Wow... the graphics were jaw-dropping. And I've never seen any Sonic-inspired Flash be so... cool. Continue with the story, and I'll rate this a 10. :)

RoTMK rises to the top.
